Cities: Skylines 2 Disappoints Console Players Once Again

The highly anticipated city-building game Cities: Skylines 2 has once again left console players frustrated. Developer Colossal Order has officially announced that the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions won’t be arriving before summer.

A Rocky Road for the Sequel

The original Cities: Skylines built a strong and dedicated player base, but its sequel has struggled to maintain that goodwill. Ongoing performance issues, delays, and underwhelming DLC releases have strained the relationship between the developers and the community.

Console Release Pushed Back Again

Initially launched exclusively for PC in October 2023, the console version of Cities: Skylines 2 was originally set for a spring 2024 release. However, in a recent update, the development team admitted that more time is needed.

“We will not be providing a release date before summer. Rather than making premature predictions, we want to ensure we give you reliable information when we’re closer to a launch-ready state,” the team shared via the Paradox Interactive forums.

This statement makes it clear that the console release remains uncertain. The developers further emphasized that they still have a lot to address before reaching the level of quality and experience we aim for.
