Valve’s digital gaming platform Steam, as you know, has become not just a game but also a giant social network. In this context, Steam broke a new record by reaching an unprecedented number of simultaneous players in the last 24 hours. 40.2 million users were recorded online on the platform.
Steam breaks its own record again
Steam continues to see an increase in the number of players. Previously, there were 39.2 million players on the platform simultaneously in December 2024, 38.3 million in September 2024, and 37.2 million in August 2024. This number reached 38.2 million in December, and 39.3 million in January 2025. According to statistics from Valve, Steam had more than 40.2 million active users at the same time yesterday. This means that it surpassed the record of 39.3 million reached last January. On the other hand, it is worth noting that the Epic Games Store is also growing. Epic recently announced that it reached 295 million accounts and 67 million monthly active users. However, these figures are not at a level that will shake Steam’s influence on the market.
Meanwhile, major titles like Monster Hunter Wilds continue to drive this growth. Capcom’s latest release has achieved remarkable success, reaching 1.38 million concurrent players on Steam. Additionally, evergreen titles such as Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and PUBG: Battlegrounds remain fan favorites on the platform.
